Nyleve’s Haven Wealth Building Community Service Components

Nyleve’s Haven Empowerment & Wealth Building Community Digital Version

For now, the above links are best viewed on a computer, using the “present” button when you get to Google Earth.

Just in case the above links don’t take you to the fancy Google Earth three-dimensional version of the future Haven Community that I dream of on the site at 18th & Broadway (gotta ground my dream somewhere) . . . Below are the sixteen service components consciously designed to support a paradigm shift for transitioning humans in the West End of Louisville Kentucky from charitable dependency to personal independence. It is intended that these brief descriptions require a conversation with me to fully appreciate the concept that I have for bringing them to life.

1. Nyleve’s Haven

Critical Care Emergency Home for My Family

The intent of Nyleve’s Haven Female Empowerment Community is to:

Remove the desperation of poverty from a daughter’s life;

Provide creative opportunities for her to advance and succeed in life;

and

Reduce the likelihood of her qualifying for government assistance.

Nyleve’s Haven is an LGBTQ-affirming residential environment for up to 12 young women between the ages of 18 and 25. The Haven offers a young woman a key and access to the resources of a family home, such as healthy daily meals, laundry facilities, cleaning supplies, and the protection of a conscious family unit, headed by a Spiritually conscious Servant Mother. Family enters an agreement with the Servant Behind Nyleve’s Haven, which includes that upon graduation, she will present a copy of her degree for permanent display at The Haven.  Proof of concept is the four degrees to be returned to display upon the blessing of Nyleve’s Haven. Two are from Spalding University; one is from the University of Louisville and one is from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary.

More about The Haven

The goal of this component is to provide a healthy, secure, and empowering residential environment for young women, in critical need to receive familial support, complete a college education, or start a business and gain self-sufficiency. The Haven uses the tools of Consciousness, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Technology to empower young women to self-sufficiency.

Full implementation of this component will create four full-time professional positions.

2. Personal Peace Process

The component’s goal is to provide life coaching assistance to address a daughter’s specific personal projects or general conditions in life.

More about The Personal Peace Process

The Personal Peace Process is a six-step process that can be used in every area of life to promote personal peace. The PPProcess focuses on an individual’s level of consciousness and state of being as they navigate their life. Through conversations, tools, and exercises daughters call forth and practice the awareness of how they are being in life and evolve into the beingness that they choose. The Personal Peace Process Steps are:

Be Still
Be Conscious
Be Honest
Be Kind
Be Responsible
Be Willing to Serve

3. The C. L. Travis Center for Entrepreneurial Success

Building Generational Wealth

Putting my father’s name back on Broadway is another personal goal of mine. Providing unique opportunities and effective tools for my daughters and the community to be, do, and have BETTER is my pleasure. I have several proprietary ideas for this multi-use business incubator center to share. For now, I will only do so in person.

4. Evelyn Travis Technology Center

Expecting the Turing

So named to bring recognition to proud Louisvillian West End resident, retired Jefferson County public school educator, and most importantly, my mother, Evelyn Orontes, and not Taronta, (story to be found on this site soon) Travis.

The A. M. Turing Award is referred to as the “Nobel Prize in Computing,” and carries a $1 million prize. It is presented annually to an individual who has made lasting contributions of a technical nature to the computing community.

The first three years of the Evelyn Travis Laboratory will work with a small (30 – 60?) group of paid fellows with a single focus per year, i.e., Cloud, Gaming, UX Design, to discover which processes are most effective. In year four the core curriculum will be set and the Evelyn Travis Academy established.

The goal of this component is entrepreneurial and professional independence. Nyleve’s Haven is committed to bringing cutting-edge equipment; exceptional computer training; quality professional software, and extensive exposure to the varied opportunities available in the field of technology to female spirits. Professionals from all areas of expertise in the field of technology will be hired and recruited to teach and mentor. The Evelyn Travis Center will encourage and empower daughters to be not only savvy users of technology but creators and designers of emerging technology.

5. Travis Cultural Academy

Preparing our children to excel on a college campus

The goal of this component is to provide a holistic child-centered educational space, providing personalized tutoring and academic support for school-aged minors.

This component is based on the Montessori model of education (favored by my mother) which is characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical, and social development. There will be limited screen time in this space. There will be an intense focus on child-to-adult direct contact, something lacking in today’s society. This space, along with all of The Haven environment, is designated a no-hit, violence-free zone.

6. ACE Rites Of Passage Experience

(ACE-ROPE: Empowering Spiritually Conscious, Culturally Committed Female Spirits) for 7-18-year-old females with weekly sessions.

about ACE-ROPE . . .

The goal of this component is to provide opportunities for young women, 7 – 18, to prepare to become responsible, thinking, caring, self-sufficient women who have a healthy respect for themselves, their families, and the community. The Academic, Cultural, and Economic – Rights Of Passage Experience is an agreed-upon set of guidelines, activities, tasks, and trials that minor daughters must successfully master in order to bring them into mature, responsible ways of thinking and behaving. Upon completion of the program daughters will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Spiritual well-being;
  • Demonstrate internal reasons for delaying sexual activity;
  • Encourage, support, and assist fellow female spirits in the life process;
  • Demonstrate both personal and collective community pride;
  • Demonstrate peaceful conflict management skills;
  • Demonstrate strategies for successful money and time management;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to servant-leadership;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and seek self-sufficiency;
  • Appreciate the intrinsic value of higher education.

7. Haven Creation Room Experience

About The Creation Room

The goal of this component is to create and maintain an environment that stimulates, supports, and nurtures the creative intelligence of the female Spirit. The Haven Creation Room Experience will provide entrepreneurial opportunities and generate revenue streams for residents and Nyleve’s Haven. Initial funding is to purchase raw materials and start-up inventory and stock. Within the Creation Room there will be equipment and supplies to create and produce the following:

Pillows
Buttons
Jewelry
Incense
Candles
Magnets
T-Shirts
NotePads
Key Chains
Oil Burners
Fragrance Oils
Meditation Stones

8. Braid & Natural Hair Center

A two-sink-two-chair Braid & Natural Hair Center

The goal of this component is to provide entrepreneurial opportunities to generate revenue streams for and provide desired services to residents and the community in a comfortable and professional setting.

9. The Haven Professional Training Kitchen

For food safety and handling training

The goal of this component is to provide hard and soft skills training in food handler safety; to introduce entrepreneurial opportunities and prepare interested residents for the Kentucky Food Handler Training & Manager Certification exams.

  • The Haven Training Kitchen will house a Community Care Program for feeding those without resources with regular daily meals.
  • We will also offer traditional home economic classes teaching basic home cooking skills to be taught by Boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964) and Gen Xers (those born between 1965 and 1980) and focused on Gen Zers (those born between 1997 and 2010) and the Alpha Generation (those born after 2000).

10. Blessed Mothers Birthing Center

The goal of this component is to reduce maternal mortality in the Afrikan-American community. This space will be consecrated to the training and support of Midwives and Doulas. This space will house a state-of-the-art birthing facility dedicated to the natural and holistic health of Black women who give birth.

11.  Nyleve’s Haven Community Garden

The goal of this component is to provide community youth with opportunities to learn to raise chickens and grow fresh vegetables as they supply the larger community with much-needed vegetables and herbs while receiving servant leadership and business training. This space will be a healthy food source for Nyleve’s Haven residents and the Community at large.

One wing of the Personal Peace Chapel building will also house an indoor grow facility to teach those skills. Yes, we will have chickens in the yard!!!

12. Nyleve’s Haven Family Housing

The goal of this component is economic independence and self-sufficiency.  A set of container homes will be created exclusively for daughters who work for My Daughter’s Foundation. They will live rent-free on a three to five-year agreement so that they save for a home down payment. Instead of rent, they agree to cover a monthly Haven expense, such as cat food, toilet paper, or laundry detergent.

13. Community Youth Clothing Store

& Professional Clothes Closet for Adults

Community clothing store, stocked, staffed, and managed by community youth. Along with new clothing purchased with funds raised from community youth by community youth using an innovative spin on an old-school method. The store will accept donations of slightly used clothing from the community. The goal of this component is to teach every aspect of the retail business to community youth and instill community pride in their servant leadership abilities.

14. My Auntie’s House Child Development

& Child Care Center

My Auntie’s House Child Development Center – Co-creators: Brittany & Shawna. This is one of the business enterprises of Haven Women that provides an affordable opportunity for the community and solves a problem for resident daughters. Special focus will be given to businesses owned by Haven women, such as Eve’s Mane and Femme Vertueus.

15. Conscious Cannabis Indoor Grow Facility and Dispensary

 Where family smokes Free.

I consciously consume cannabis for medical purposes; I smoke premium weed because I like it.

Legalize. Regulate.

When my activist efforts are successful and it becomes legal in Kentucky for medical and recreational use the in-door grow facility will expand to include premium-grade marijuana. It is my personal intent to be the first African American woman with the legal authority to sell marijuana in Ky. There will be a dispensary Conscious Cannabis in the Travis building where family smokes free. This Social Enterprise alone will make The Haven Community Compound fiscally self-sufficient in less than seven years.

Please, help me make my dream for the West End of Louisville, Ky a reality. Join my Council of Kindness.

16. Travel Club

Travel provides opportunities for an amazing education on so many levels, in so many areas, depending on the individual. Those who are well-traveled understand that statement. Those who have never left Jefferson County do not. I intend to increase the number of West-Enders who understand, appreciate, and agree with the first statement.
